About

MINIs of Boston was created on July 13th, 2011. I decided to create it to have an easy way for MINI owners to talk to each other and the help organize meets and drives. Although it started out slow, we had reached nearly 300 members by the end of our first year! And we continue to grow each day!

I first considered the idea of making a club after I attended to MINIs on the Dragon in North Carolina in 2011. I didn't realize how much the MINI community and  the people I met down there loved their MINIs. Everyone always said I was obsessed with my MINI. They had no idea! As I was there, I realized that being a MINI owner was something more than just liking these small, nimble cars. It was like these cars were part of us. They defined us. And not a single one is the same. You can have a black MINI Cooper S with a white roof. Or you could have a white MINI "Justa" Cooper Convertible. Or a black Countryman with red racing stripes. Or any of the other 10 million ways to customize your MINI, and that's just from the factory! You then had stickers, vinyls, custom rims, eye lashes, chrome, exhaust, body kits, and hosts of other things to further define yourself through your MINI. I saw hundreds upon hundreds of MINIs, and not a single one was the same. It's not like the Toyota Corollas you see driving around that are either red or silver and look identical. Your MINI defined you. And every MINI had a name. You referred to your MINI by his/her name and referenced the model by the BMW code. "My name is Bill and Lucy is my Hyper Blue R53."

In "MINI Country," your MINI defines you. And would you have it any other way?

So after meeting countless numbers of MINIacs, I became even more impressed by what these cars mean to the people who drive them. And I too had felt a deeper connection to my MINI than I had ever felt before. I had never felt that with any vehicle I had ever owned. And I have never seen a car group so open, friendly, and caring as the hundreds of MINI owners who I met during that week. That feeling really moved me and made me determined to make a local club. I wanted to have that feeling all the time, and the share that feeling with other MINI owners.

After I had come home from MOTD 2011, I started looking into make this club. I spit-balled some names and then once I settled on MINIs of Boston, I designed the logo. I wanted something different but something that still had the MINI feel to it. So that's how I came up with the MINIs of Boston logo. Once I had the design and the name created, I went on to facebook on July 13th, 2011, and created the MINIs of Boston facebook page. I posted it up on all the forums I was a part of and slowly grew the club. I joined up with some other MINI owners for a weekly meeting and basically took that over. And I started creating weekend drives to go on. It was a slow start, but as the word spread, the club grew. And I am very please with where the club is headed and what it has become!
